Sean Basil McGiver is an Emerging Digital Manipulation Artist and is currently showing his work at 163 Charles St. Gallery, NYC until June 29th. He has put together this pop up gallery and is promoting the art through social networking.
McGiver paints with photos to create images unique in composition and subject matter. His bold, racey, contemporary photographs featuring drag queens, sex and drugs have a fun baroque sense of style. He specializes in seamless composition and tends toward a darker sense of subject matter while still keeping the work humorous.
A determined artist, McGiver has built this show which includes 8 years of work. Not only has he built the work but he's also curated, hung, lit and produced his current show while simultaneously teaching at SVA in New York City where he gained his master's degree in digital photography in 2008. He has invited other local artists to show with him during the month including David Paul Kay, Javier Gomez and Joseph Conforti.
